Featured Artist’s of the Month for September:
Sue Leslie, Julie Kershaw & Helen Moss
We now have a changing featured artist exhibition on the ground floor.
This month we have 3 artists featured who complement each other wonderfully. Two of our artists Sue & Julie have had work with Spirals for so long they are an integral part of the furniture! Helen is, relatively, a new addition, whose work has proved vastly popular in the last year and has well and truly earned her spot alongside our old faithful’s.
Sue Leslie is a mixed media artist based in Hebden Bridge, she combines fabric, paper and stitch in her artwork. Inspired by origami, utilising mostly recycled paper & fabrics she creates ingeniously simple and classically stylish items to wear, or for the home.
Julie Kershaw up-cycles old clothing & fabrics into fabulous functional items, accessories and soft toys. By felting, embellishing with buttons and oddments of ribbon and lace Julie gives a new lease of (often much more attractive) life to old woollies & forgotten items.
Helen Moss is a powerhouse, creating all kinds of weird & wonderful quirky items, from funny face felted soaps to sleek floral brooches. Much of her work is felted and textile based, however her range is as broad as her talent & she often encompasses other media, managing to pull it all off effortlessly.
These 3 talented ladies showcase just how modern & fashionable textiles and crafts can be.
